Gigi

Why see Gigi?

VANESSA HUDGENS STARS AS GIGI

The acclaimed Eric Schaeffer helms this brand new revival of Lerner and Loewe's classic musical set in the Parisian La Belle Epoque era. This comedic tale of a young woman groomed to be a playboy's companion, until the two unexpectedly fall in love, won the 1958 Academy Award for Best Picture and starred Leslie Caron and Louis Jourdan in the lead roles.

High School Musical and Hollywood starlet Vanessa Hudgens will take on the lead role of Gigi, with Schaeffer commenting that "from the moment we met Vanessa, we knew we found our Gigi". She'll be taking on the musical's classic songs, like "The Parisians," "The Night They Invented Champagne" and the Oscar-winning number "Gigi." Boasting a reimagined book written by British playwright and Emmy-nominated screenwriter Heidi Thomas ("Cranford," "Upstairs Downstairs," "Call the Midwife"), this exciting new revival of Gigi is set to charm new audiences!

I REMEMBER IT WELL: WHAT IS GIGI ABOUT?

Life in Paris during the enchanting La Belle Epoque era is a life of high fashion, endless socialising, and passionate affairs. However one gentleman, Gaston, has grown bored of his playboy lifestyle. He begins spending time with his uncle's former lover, Mamita, and her granddaughter, the beautiful young Gigi. Mamita meanwhile intends to send Gigi away to be learn the charms and ways of a true courtesan - a much nobler and high-class version of the ladies Gaston so enjoys spending time with.

When the trio spend time on holiday at the seaside together, Gaston realises that Gigi is no longer just a child and the two begin to fall in love. Will his playboy-past threaten their relationship and will he be willing to give it all up for Gigi?
