Don't wait to Turn Back Time - The Cher Show announces closing date
The biographical tuner about the pop icon to shutter August 18
Following a comfortable run at the Neil Simon Theatre from last December, The Cher Show today announced it will close on August 18, after having played 34 previews and 296 regular performances.
Despite winning two Tony Awards earlier this month (one for star Stephanie J. Brock and other for Bob Mackie's sparkling costumes), it looks as if the production is another post-Tony casualty, joining a list that includes The Prom, Be More Chill, King Kong, Hilary and Clinton and more, who have all posted early closing notices.
But there is still reason to Believe for Cher fans across the country as the announcement also brings the news that the show is set for a national tour, launching in Rochester, NY in October 2020!
The Cher Show
One of America's most treasured stars, Cher is an outspoken performer, singer, activist and advocate, a mother of reinvention, finding new fans in every decade of her incredible career. The production will be directed by Jason Moore with a book by Rick Elice and will turn back time to chronicle the star's early life growing up poor in Los Angeles, her first gigs as a back up singer, her meeting and marriage to Sonny Bono and their stratospheric rise to fame as the country's favorite duo and beyond to solo success. Expect to hear some of her greatest songs, from 'Believe' to 'Gypsys, Tramps and Thieves', 'The Shoop Shoop Song' and many more.
