Roll along Merrily for longer!
Merrily We Roll Along extends
Now playing at the Hudson Theatre, the revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's time-bending musical starring Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez has announced an extension through July 7, 2024, with tickets on sale soon.
Telling the tale of a trio of friends in reverse, this production, directed by Maria Friedman, marks the first major Broadway revival of the show after a somewhat rocky start on the musical's 1981 debut, when it famously opened for just 16 performances.
Thankfully, this time around, with its central cast of contemporary Broadway stars and a crack creative team, Merrily's fortunes have reversed, with The New York Times declaring; "Maria Friedman's unsparing direction and a thrillingly fierce central performance by Jonathan Groff have given the show the hard shell it lacked. Now heartbreaking in the poignant sense only, "Merrily" has been found in the dark."
