Reviews

"Musically, it's superb under the direction of Tom Murray, with lush, expanded orchestrations by Brown. Sound designer Cody Spencer mostly gets the balance right." TheatreMania

"The show is a memory musical. Everything happening on stage is actually going on inside the characters' heads." New York Theatre Guide

"The score, as ever, is jammed with gems." New York Theatre Guide

"The score, as ever, is jammed with gems"

"Warren commands the stage in a way that's compelling to watch." Amny

"Warren is a marvel, her powerful voice and expert skills as an actress painting a complete portrait of the defiantly happy, defiantly determined and defiantly angry Cathy. She's properly mournful in the melancholy "Still Hurting"; hilarious in the vaudevillian "A Summer in Ohio"; and cockeyedly optimistic in "I Can Do Better That." Cititour

"Brown's score sounds terrific"

"Brown's score sounds terrific, newly re-orchestrated for a nine-member band that captures his eclectic mix of pop and theater styles. It's a treat to have The Last Five Years on Broadway after all these years." Culturesauce

"It's a treat to have The Last Five Years on Broadway after all these years"

What Is The Story?

Named one of Time magazine's top shows of 2001 and featured in its movie form at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, The Last Five Years is the love story of two young New York residents, Cathy and Jamie. The musical brings audiences on a roller coaster ride of emotions as the couple fall in and out of love with one another over the course of five years.

As Cathy recounts her journey of love in reverse chronological order, Jamie starts at the beginning of their relationship, shortly after their first encounter. Despite both telling the story of their love, the pair meet and interact only once with each other in the show.
