Wear waterproof mascara. Liu will break your heart! The production is gorgeous and appropriate for the fairytale storyline. The audience gasped audibly when the palace set was revealed.

Have always loved the opera. The staging etc. were the classic Zeffirelli’. The best performance was by Eleonora BurattoNot a dry eye there. My humble opinion is that. Goerke was not at her best, but loved her transition from the cold princess to a more human being during Lius aria. Not imptressed with Eyvazov voice. Could hardly call him a dramatic tenor, he at times is more bel canto . Felt Nessus for a was a let down. Chorus and orchestra were superb under the direction of maestro Sequin. Don’t miss Buratto as Liu. Beyond superb!!!!
