LuPone in Concert - PHENOMENAL

Saw her three times this year, twice at 54 Below in New York in January and most recently in Toledo on March 4. I'm always fascinated by her ability to transport the audience into another world, by her performing skills, acting skills and magnificent voice. During her most recent concert she was wounded. She had broken her wrist and sprained her knee during an accident while filming, she still performed outstandingly and besides the cast on her arm you wouldn't have known. Her voice is one of the few miracles in the world. And when you're able to sing Don't Cry For Me Argentina in the original key and still sound the same, or even better than 46 years ago, at the age of 73, then you're phenomenal! She's a legend and they don't make performancers like her anymore. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO GO SEE HER IN CONCERT. Especially if you like Broadway. And she's for all ages, I'm 23.

Thunderous applause for Ms. LaPone

She is the complete package. Voice, grace, stage presence, emotion, audience interaction. The two gents accompanying her were fabulous. So glad I got to see her.

Thank you!!

I have seen Ms. LuPone perform on Broadway and the West End. Her performance at the McCallum Theater last night was not among her best. Perhaps her touring schedule had taxed her voice, perhaps she wasn't feeling well. My partner, who had never seen Ms. LuPone perform live, commented that "she walked through the first act with little energy or interest in the material she was performing." To me, she seemed tired. Ms. LuPone was not in good voice, not breathing correctly, sliding into and out of notes, and her delivery of uninspired song introductions not sincere. Perhaps it was an off night for Ms. LuPone. We left at intermission. I am still a huge fan and admirer of her great talent. Her performance in Gypsy on Broadway will always be one of the most thrilling and memorable of any I have seen anywhere by any performer. Unfortunately, my partner left the theater last night not having had the experience I had hoped for.
