OUTSTANDING
We loved the play. There were 3 of us and we couldn't stop talking about it at dinner afterwards. Actors were perfect choices. The real problem I had and my seat mates around me is we couldn't hear well at all. We were in row K. I talked to the lovely playwright, Lily Thorne about it and she said she was aware of it. They were working on it. I don't know why this play isn't on Broadway.
Lois Smith is perfection!
Who doesn’t want to see Aunt Meg on stage? I love Lois Smith and she was as detailed and believable as ever at 86! The family is a mess and many will find familiarity in these character types. There are seemingly very few redeemable qualities about the kids characters and I frankly was drawn in by each of their portrayals. I wanted to know more about each of them but I didn’t feel robbed in any way. Many “holy s†moments and “wow, she actually said that†moments gave my morbid curiosity so much drive that I forgot the running time was 2 hours and 40 minutes. It was well done. Well written, well acted, great set and costumes.... it felt REAL. Go if you can!
Peace for Mary Frances: Not ready for stage
Play seemed interminably long and not well-constructed. Actors start off yelling and cursing each other and continue this way and play never really develops their character. Play needed cutting and tightening. Another draft or two might help.
