A must watch
I could not stop laughing at this. Great music and even better performance
No Second Act
Great first act. Lots of rapid fire corny groaners, good cast, and serviceable modern-style Broadway tunes (meaning you'll not be humming them after you leave but give the actors a reason to emote). Modern composers have no gift of melody. Set is boring, costumes are boring. There is no second act. No 11:00 number. The missed opportunity of a real hoe-down dance number anywhere, but particularly in the second act will kill this show. The big second act dance number is the guys jumping up and down on barrels, and using planks as see-saws. If there was ever an opportunity for a "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" barnraising number it was here. There is Broadway talent to pull this off, but the creators thought differently. Too bad. Will run a few months, and then find an audience on the road for which it was truly crafted. Opening on Broadway gives it first-class theater cred. Really wanted to love a brand new American musical but left disappointed.
