Our review of Home for the Holidays
Home for the Holidays with the Hollens!
The stars of the show are the 9-piece rhythm and brass band, and YouTubers Peter and Evynne Hollens
Festive, fun, musical
Best Bit: Peter Hollens' singing his original hit "December Song". A wonderful moment where the spirit of Christmas can be felt, this is one of the tracks on the recently released album A Hollens Family Christmas. Hollen's refers to himself as dorky a cappella dad and he is charming to watch.
Danny Aiello must be feeling the nostalgia that Christmas brings. Aiello appears as a special guest and relives snippets from his childhood in Home For The Holidays which opened on Broadway, November 21st at the August Wilson Theatre. As a native New Yorker, he is no doubt proud of this winter wonderland! New York is a city that attracts millions from around the world to see the giant Rockefeller tree with its famed ice rink, or the Empire State that lights up with the holiday colors and of course, the Bergdorf windows and the many avenues lined with fairy lights and wreaths.
To celebrate the festive season, producers Chart Breakers Live! And Michael J. Guccione have gathered some of America's top reality show talent to stage a Christmas concert. Aside from Aiello who was last seen on Broadway in 1987 and Josh Kaufman who made his debut in 2014, each performer is making their Broadway debut! The real stars of the show though are the 9-piece rhythm and brass band, and self-made YouTube celebs Peter and Evynne Hollens. They are all present and teeter on the fine line between Christmas cheese and charm yet they seem to be having tons of fun!
