Tribeca presents the world premiere of The London Sessions as part of the festivals Special Screenings series. These unique events pair a film with an exclusive live performance, and Mary J. Blige will be taking to the Beacon Theatre stage after the credits roll to sing some numbers from throughout her illustrious career.
The London Sessions is a behind-the-scenes look at Blige's recording of her 13th album (of the same name) in England last year. Filmed over the course of ten days, the documentary was directed by Sam Wrench, the man responsible for similar films about Biffy Clyro and Mona. The movie inter-cuts footage from the studio with revealing interviews with Mary herself, as well as the record's production team and collaborators, including Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and Disclosure.
