Fiddler on the Roof

Why see Fiddler on the Roof?

Final months!

Starring six time Tony nominee Danny Burstein and directed by Bartlett Sher, this wonderful production will use Jerome Robbins's' original choreography and of course, the unforgettable, rousing songs, such as 'Tradition', 'Matchmaker, Matchmaker', 'If I Were A Rich Man' and 'Sunrise, Sunset' that truly cemented Fiddler in our hearts. Nominated for three 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Danny Burnstein and Best Revival of a Musical!

If I were a rich man...

Based upon the short stories by Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on Roof first premiered on Broadway in 1964, during the Golden Age of musical theatre. It won a staggering nine Tonys, and became an instant classic, not before going on to be adapted as eight-time Academy Award-nominated movie. Since then it has become a standard of the American musical repertoire, and the hilarious story elicits positive responses wherever it is played.

What is Fiddler on the Roof About?

At the turn of the 20th Century, Russia is a country on the brink of revolution. Although the chaos seems to seldom touch the isolated family of Tevye the Milkman, he sees the effect on his three elder daughters and the lives that they choose the lead.

Tzeitel, the oldest has little prospects for a poor woman, when the widowed and ancient butcher Lazar Wolf shows interest in her whilst she pines for the poor tailor Motel, it begins a story of rebellion, violence, love and acceptance that finds Tevye and the family learning to leave behind their old lives and start a new one full of hope and laughter!

Iconic, sensitive, beautiful

Fiddler on The Roof is a great example of how imperative story is. It captures a slice of time and reminds us that we must relish in the freedom we have, challenge the restrictions and prejudices on others, and embrace our differences.

Fiddler on the Roof

The cast was terrific but the actor that played Yenta was not a good fit. The first act was phenomenal from start to finish! The second act was a letdown. In total the show is well worth attending. ... Read more

Fiddler Returns to Broadway

Show still in previews:Fiddler is an amazing show with incredible music and a poignant story. Almost everyone has either seen the show or movie and knows the songs. Its really hard to be critical of such an incredible show, but here it goes: 1st: the show was too long. There were times I was actually bored. I can't be specific, but some scenes just dragged a bit..for me. 2nd: I like to be inspired by a performance. With a show like Fiddler, its hard to break new ground and really I wouldn't necessarily want that. Other than some energetic and clever dances in the wedding scene, I just felt a bit of flatness. 3rd: I don't want to be harsh, I really couldn't act, sing or dance my way out of a paper bag, but it seemed like some of the cast members were under the weather. That's the nicest way I can say it. Several of the leading men and Golda had come weak moments when singing, but then were amazing a scene later. Lets call it choppy performances by some. Still highly recommend tho ... Read more
