Manfred Honeck leads an all-Mozart program featuring the iconic composer's soul-stirring Requiem
Grammy Award-winning guest conductor Manfred Honeck leads the New York Philharmonic through a program celebrating the aural genius of Mozart, welcoming foremost Mozart interpreter Richard Goode to tickle the ivories alongside vocalists Joelle Harvey, Sasha Cooke, Ben Bliss, Matthew Rose and the Westminster Symphonic Choir.
At the centre of the evening's program lies one of the most celebrated choral works in the classical repertoire, Mozart's Requiem. Written from his death-bed in the late 1700s, its startling, other-worldly beauty finds the composer coming to terms with his own mortality and the mystery of human existence, answering these questions with cascading choral and haunting instrumental arrangements that stir the depths of the listener's soul.
