A brand new play by J.T. Rodgers is taking place at the Lincoln Center Theatre this year, Corruption' portrays the British phone hacking scandal and is based on the incredible book Dial M for Murdoch: News Corporation and The Corruption of Britain' by Tom Watson. This scandal engulfed British media in the early 2010s, with this new production diving deep into the corruption and those who unveiled it.
What is the Story?
When MP Tom Watson (played by Toby Stephens) has a smear campaign launched against him by Rupert Murdoch News International, instead of cowering, he fights back! What Watson uncovers in this conflict is much deeper and disgraceful than he could have ever imagined it to be. Watson forms a team of fellow politicians, like-minded journalists, and incredible lawyers, to aid him in exposing the criminality and corruption at the center of this media giant.
