The world premiere of the new musical Take the Lead is coming to the Paper Mill Playhouse in the spring of 2025. Based on the 2006 movie of the same name, which was based on the real-life of dance instructor Pierre Dulaine, the play takes you through New York's legendary ballroom scene and the place that Dulaine had in its mainstream uprising. Tony Award-nominated Christopher Gattelli is set to direct and will co-choreograph with & Juliet's Jennifer Wever and Maria Torres. Sure to have you dancing and singing in your seats, you don't want to miss Take the Lead!
What Is The Story?
Kids always act up in class, but a new form of detention is on the way at one particular school in New York. After witnessing an act of vandalism, Pierre Dulaine offers to take over, teaching the troubled students how to ballroom dance in hopes of fostering new attitudes of teamwork and respect. Will Dulaine and his students succeed?
