Clive Owen led espionage drama set to close this Sunday

This butterfly did not soar - Julie Taymor's ambitious new show, a tense drama that saw Clive Owen and Jin Ha grapple with a honeypot scheme to steal French state secrets in China, has announced it will close Dec 17, a month sooner than expected.

Based on a true story, Owen played the role of French civil servant Rene Gallimard, whose intense two-decade affair with a captivating Chinese opera star Song Liling, is revealed to be an elaborate sham. Not only is Song a man, but he is also a spy, trading the secrets passed by Gallimard to the Chinese government.

Indifferent reviews and a lackluster box office performance had led to the show posting January 14 as it's closing date, however, it seems that the last minute ticket boost they were hoping for has not materialized. The show will now close Sunday after having played 19 previews and 61 regular performances.
