Operation Mincemeat: The Mission Begins

Author KevinKevin, February 17th, 2025

Let's open the file on the hottest new show in previews

A cult classic turned global sensation embarks on a new Broadway mission, earning a five-minute standing ovation! On Saturday, February 15, 2025, the Mincefluencers gathered by the hundreds, singing Sail On, Boys outside the John Golden Theatre to celebrate the premiere of a wildly unbelievable - yet historically accurate - story of war. As always, the operation was a win for the troops!

Part farce, part thriller, this show gives any Ian Fleming-style spy caper a run for its money. Set in 1943, the musical follows one of the most thrilling and peculiar operations of its time. The Allied Forces are determined to fool the Nazis - but at what cost? Perhaps false documentation on a stolen corpse will do the trick!

A SuccesSful Operation Indeed

The show has been extended 12 times in the West End and will run through June 7, 2025, marking its third consecutive sold-out year. Dubbed the Best Reviewed Show in West End History, it has racked up 74 five-star reviews and, if that wasn't impressive enough, swept the 2024 Olivier Awards, winning Best New Musical and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical. But what does that mean for its Broadway premiere, you ask?

A Familiar Staging

When you see Operation Mincemeat on Broadway, you're getting all the West End magic intact - the original cast is back! David Cumming reprises his role as Charles Cholmondeley, Claire-Marie Hall as Jean Leslie, Natasha Hodgson as Ewen Montagu, Olivier Award-winner Jak Malone as Hester Legatt, and Zoe Roberts as Johnny Bevan.

With book, music, and lyrics by David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson, and Zo Roberts, the production is directed by Robert Hastie with choreography by Jenny Arnold.

So, don't just wait for the war to be over!
