The Broadway production of Othello, currently in previews at the Barrymore Theatre, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the highest-grossing play in Broadway's history.
During its second week of previews, the play earned an impressive $2,818,297 across eight performances. This record-breaking achievement surpasses the previous titleholder, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which grossed $2,718,488.
Directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, the production features a star-studded cast led by Denzel Washington, two-time Academy Award winner, in the role of Othello and Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal as Iago. The average ticket price for the record-breaking week was $338.09, with some premium tickets reaching as high as $897.
