Maybe Happy Ending Gets An Original Cast Recording
Our Hardware Hearts Couldn’t Be Happier!
It's not all futuristic beeps and bops as one might expect - Will Aronson's jazzy score makes us feel what it means to be human through robot eyes. Inspired by Nat King Cole and Duke Ellington, fictional jazz singer Gil Brentley (Dez Duron) sings along to the emotional transformation of two HelperBots with wildly different personalities - Oliver (Darren Criss) and Claire (Helen J.Shen), and now you get to stream the experience over and over!
The original cast recording for Maybe Happy Ending will be released in Spring 2025, with specific dates to be announced. While the production has not specified which platform the album will be released on, fans will likely be able to listen to it on Spotify and Apple Music.
What's The Story?
As a HelperBot Oliver has reached the end of his service and is content to enjoy his retirement in his Seoul apartment, listening to jazz and watering his plants. But when his neighbor Claire knocks on his door seeking a charger, it looks like these two androids do dream of something...love! A balm to those worried by the AI takeover, Maybe Happy Ending is a sweet look at the inner lives of robots, and just what they can experience.
Written by Hue Park and Will Aronson, Maybe Happy Ending made its Broadway debut at the Belasco Theatre on November 12, following previews that began on October 16. Directed by Michael Arden, the production has also released five tracks on SoundCloud.
