A Welcome Return Of Puccini's Tosca At The Met

With a grand Gala night taking place on New Year's Eve the opening of The Metropolitan's Opera brand new production of Puccini's Tosca was met with great anticipation.

The Met's previous rendition of this grand opera, which opened in 2009, was met with great disdain for it's bare and modern approach to the classic. However, this new 2017/2018 offering has been met with some glittering reviews. Let's hope that this Tosca is one that The Met can rely on!

'It is a triumph' - The Huffington Post

'At last, the Met has a Tosca that it can bank on again and again in the coming years. And it should: if any piece deserves an unshakeable pedestal in the standard repertoire, it’s Puccini’s Tosca, which on a frigid New Year’s Eve proved the intense and devastating experience it ought to be.' - New York Classical Review

'Drama, theatrical integrity and vocal prowess reign in this Tosca, accompanied sumptuously by the Metropolitan Opera orchestra under Emmanuel Villaume.' - Zealnyc
