Oh Baby Baby, The Reviews Are In For Once Upon A One More Time

The highly anticipated musical based on the songs of the one and only Britney Spears finally opened on Broadway last week. But was it a hit with the critics?
We're happy to report that this brand-new fairytale with feminist leanings enjoyed a somewhat positive response from the critics! While it might not win any prizes for its book, the joy of Spear's back catalog and a game cast made for an enjoyable night out for
Broadway News: "a thoroughly enjoyable, relentlessly watchable and genuinely funny good time"
Deadline: "Smart, funny, splendid to look at and all with a beat you can dance to, this tribute (to) the indomitable Ms. Spears, is a delight"
and Entertainment Weekly: "a youthful, exuberant take on beloved tales that's more dazzling and polished than Cinderella's glass slipper. Expect to keep on dancin' long after the musical ends."
Less than enthused were
The New York Times: "hampered by a shambolic jumble of sisterhood 101 messaging and defanged fantasy revisionism."
The New York Post (still reeling from the season's most infamous failure): "Fresh off of "Bad Cinderella" comes the new Broadway musical "Once Upon a One More Time" an even worse Cinderella."
Vulture: "reductive and pandering, hitting all the expected marks without any unique spark."
