Philip Seymour Hoffman - just a volcano of energy!
The best show in a decade. Amazing cast! You must see it (if you get tickets!)
Powerful, moving
Brantley's jaded, unperturbed reaction notwithstanding, this is an unforgettable piece of theater, extraordinarily moving, superbly well-cast, acted by all with wizardry, and with perfect-pitch direction. Many in my March 16 audience wept; everyone rose at the end in a sustained standing ovation. A production in which the entire team appears to recognize the responsibility they have to bring to life, and live up to the importance and majesty of, Arthur Miller's play.
A reprisal role for Hoffman
He first performed in this play at Fairport High School in Rochester, NY. I was a teacher there at the time and was lucky enough to see him then. How wonderful to see him on Broadway.
NEED TO SEE!!! True to the original
While there are many great plays to see in NY, this is one that should be on the top 3....we loved the theatre and the actors, Philip, Linda, Andrew, Finn, and many others were AWESOME. We were so glad we flew to NY (from TX) to just see this play. The issues in the 40's still apply today, especially with what we all endured with the downturn of the economy.
Romy & Michelle
choreography - brilliant! creative, balanced, innovative, difficult! staging: not bad ... why not more use of the downstage area for the more intimate scenes with Romy and Michelle? the final number: I object, please. you cannot SAVE the world by re- dressing it: how about, instead, CHANGING the world, one piece at a time? or something like that. The song had good things to say, but in an unbelievable way, story-wise. Save the song; change the lyrics, please! And, by the way, super great audience last night - we loved the show. please take away the unnecessary pop quiz pre-second act, as well as the extensive pre-show remarks. It makes 5th Ave feel more like a semi- professional group.
