A Powerful Dive into Feminism and Memory
Bess Wohl’s Liberation at the Laura Pels Theatre is a powerful, deeply personal play that hits home. Inspired by her mother’s 1970s feminist group, it jumps between past and present, unpacking big questions about identity, memory, and progress. Susannah Flood is fantastic, playing both the narrator and her mother, Lizzie, in a way that feels seamless and real. The whole cast brings warmth and depth, and under Whitney White’s direction, the show balances humor with some truly moving moments. Smart, emotional, and full of heart—Liberation is one to see.
