Shadowlands

Shadowlands at Acorn Theatre

Why see Shadowlands?

Based on A True Story

Fellowship for the Performing Arts present this Off-Broadway staging of William Nicholson's celebrated drama. Shadowlands is story of English author CS Lewis' and his love affair with American author Joy Davidson, and how their love endured through her battle with terminal cancer. A beautifully etched portrait of grief and faith, it also offers a glimpse into the world of one of our most famous writers.

Shadowlands originally premiered on Broadway in 1990, with Nigel Hawthorne as Lewis, and was nominated for two Tonys. It was subsequently adapted for the silver screen, with Anthony Hopkins as Lewis and Debra Winger as Davidson. This production is directed by Christa Scott-Reed.

And, I write after a life of teaching in Europe, China, and the United States. Well done to the cast, directors, and writers of Shadowlands. You challenged my mind, and you touched my heart more deeply than I could have imagined. ... Read more
