The Wedding Singer

The Wedding Singer at Al Hirschfeld Theater

Why see The Wedding Singer?

The hilarious film comedy about a down-on-his luck wannabe rocker comes to the Broadway stage!

This brand-new musical comedy is based on the 1998 comedy of the same name which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore as a singer and a waitress engaged to be married to the wrong people.

Robbie Hart is New Jersey's number one wedding singer and the life of every party until his own fiancee strands him at the altar. Bitter and broken, Robbie begins to make every wedding as disastrous as his own until a warm-hearted waitress named Julia intervenes. Only trouble is, Julia's about to be - you guessed it - married! Can Robbie pull off the performance of the decade and win the girl of his dreams?  Can The Wedding Singer's sparkling new score do for the '80s what Hairspray did for the '60s?  Can you still fit into your powder blue tuxedo?  Just say yes to the most romantic musical in 20 years.

Better Than The Original

Already being a fan of both the original 1998 film and also one of Stephen Lynch I was already excited to see the show and knew it would be amazing before I had seen it. This is one of the best musicals I have seen on Broadway. Everything about it was amazing all of the actors were perfect for the parts and the song's caught my attention the most. If a musical doesn't have great songs then whats the point. I think this musical tops them all. It's fun and energetic and entertaining for an entire family. ... Read more

what was casting thinking?

we enjoyed this mildly entertaining show...my children of the 80's really connected...but we all felt that the lead role of Julia was miscast. She is too bland, too old, and not a great performer. My daughter said that NY theatre is supposed to be the best of the best...this was not cast to create an exciting romantic match. This show needs to be perked up with some real headliners/recording stars. ... Read more
