The illustrious Danny DeVito makes his Broadway return in this brand-new comedy from Roundabout Theatre Company, coming this fall! Written by Theresa Rebeck (Bernhardt/Hamlet, Smash) and directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, DeVito stars as recluse Sam, alongside Ray Anthony Thomas as Foster and his daughter; Lucy, who makes her Broadway debut as Amelia.
What is the story?
Preferring his own home to the world outside, recluse Sam's world is turned upside down when he receives an ultimatum from the Government - either clean up his junk-filled home or be evicted. One man's trash is truly another's treasure as Sam labors through decades of his stuff, reckoning with the situation he finds himself in.
Danny DeVito
One of the greatest actors of his generation, DeVito has been working on stage and screen since the 70s but it was his appearance in Taxi that made him a star. Since then he's gone on to delight audiences in myriad films, plays, and television, with his scene-stealing turn as Frank Reynolds in FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia running for 15 seasons (and counting) and introducing him to a new generation of fans.
