Why see I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers?
I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers is a new play by Tony Award winner John Logan. Singing and stage sensation Bette Midler is set to play the late legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers in this one-character play about Mengers' life and accomplishments.
Sue Mengers entered the USA as a refugee from Nazi Germany and lived up to the ideals of the American Dream until her passing in 2011 by becoming the first female "superagent" at a time when women were seldom found in that industry. Her feisty personality and tenacity served her well in Hollywood, helping her carve a hugely successful career and reputation as one of Hollywood's best talent agents.
This off-Broadway play boasts an impressive creative time, including Tony Award winner Scott Pask overseeing the set design and Academy Award winner Ann Roth as the costume designer.
"I met Sue Mengers only once, at a dinner party. The kaftan, constant cigarettes, tinted glasses, and perfect blond hair were much in evidence; so too the deliciously wicked wit and stevedore language." John Logan, Playwright
