Why see Mamma Mia!?

THE GLOBAL SMASH HIT will close in September

Set around the all-out disco hits of colorful Swedes Abba, Mamma Mia! is the story of love and friendship, past, present and future and dancing! Don't miss your last chance to see this production of Mamma Mia! on Broadway - it closes September 12th!

Mamma Mia! was the brainchild of British producer Judy Cramer and playwright Catherine Johnson, who was motivated to create the Abba based spectacular after meeting two members Benny and Bjorn when working with Tim Rice. Seeing the theatrical potential apparent in the superstar band's hits, Mamma Mia! was born, and since its 1999 debut, has gone on to spawn worldwide productions, been seen by 54 million people and inspired the global record breaking movie starring Meryl Streep, and Pierce Brosnon.

Including hits as 'Super Trouper', 'Waterloo', 'Dancing Queen', 'Lay All Your Love On Me', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' and many more!

WHAT IS MAMMA MIA! ABOUT?

On the sunny Greek Island of Kalokairi, Sophie is dreaming of her forthcoming wedding to Sky, but is saddened that her mother Donna has never told her about her father. Reading Donna's diary, she identifies three suspects from her past, adventurer Bill, successful Sam and ex-rocker Harry and secretly invites them to the island, hoping to quiz them.

As Donna struggles to confront her past, her and two best friends take a trip down memory lane, recalling their glory days as glam rockers Donna and the Dynamos. But will seeing her ex-lovers rekindle old flames? And who is Sophie's father anyway? Find out in this crowd-pleasing juggernaut!

DID YOU KNOW?

The outrageous lycra outfits worn for 'Super Trouper' are supplied from London and are shipped to all the international productions, single handedly saving an Italian mill from going out of business!

Carrie Manolakos just joined the Broadway company of Mamma Mia on June 4, as the new Sophie Sheridan, having previously been on the National tour of Mamma Mia. We saw her on tour and again on Broadway last week. Good luck to her. She was just great. Mamma Mia is wonderful. Go see if, if you haven't already. Many people have gone over and over. ... Underwhelming performance July 3, 2012

I have seen many many MANY broadway shows. I used to be in musicals myself. But this show is underwhelming tonight (July 3, 2012). It looks like Sophie is probably an understudy tonight. Sounded like a high schooler singing who couldn't remember her lines. She practically butchered the opening scene. It set a bad tone for the show. Everyone else was phenomenal, especially the chorus in Voulez Vous and Gimme Gimme Gimme! ... Read more
