The Merchant Of Venice

The Merchant Of Venice at Broadhurst Theater

Why see The Merchant Of Venice?

Al Pacino brings his sensational performance as Shylock to the Broadway stage this Fall with the Public Theater's production of The Merchant of Venice, directed by Daniel Sullivan.

Antonio, a young man, pledges a pound of his own flesh to a moneylender, Shylock, so a friend can woo his lady-love in style. Antonio learns a hard lesson in loyalty, humanity, friendship and prejudice when the revenge-seeking Shylock comes to collect and he is unable to pay.

Pacino and Sullivan expertly tackle one of Shakespeare's most controversial plays, offering modern audiences a new, shattering take on this rarely performed play.

The must-see event runs for only 78 performances! Don't miss this legendary production that the Wall Street Journal declared "cries out to be seen by everyone with a passion for truly great theater. The best Merchant I have ever seen!"

BRAVO

I was lucky to see The Merchant of Venice in Central Park back in July. What a Great performance from my Idol, Al Pacino. I then saw it again on New Years Day in the 4th row, at the Broadhurst Theater. Mr Pacino blew me away with his performance again. I did get to meet Al Pacino just before he went into the Theater. He was so shy and just smiled at me and raised his hand to his forehead to say Hello. I saw him again for the last performace, he signed my book....what an actor...I wish this play wins the Tony ...
