The sound of the chorus was remarkable: full-bodied, with bloom and warmth and not a hint of strain.

Carnegie Hall presents three incredible performances of Handel's Messiah
Handel's Messiah is one of the composer's most well-known pieces and an iconic Christmas presentation. This year, Carnegie Hall presents three incredible performances of Handel's Messiah, each by a visiting choir including New York's very own Musica Sacra, the Oratorio Society of New York and the Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra.
Handel's Messiah is an oratorio or composition which makes us of a full orchestra and expansive choir and tells a story but without acting or mime. An oratorio is similar to an opera however does not make use of any costumes nor sets as it doesn't have a spoken narrative. Encompassing the much-loved 'Hallelujah Chorus', watching this majestic composition performed by a live choir and orchestra is something that is not readily forgotten and a memorable experience for the family.

Handel's Messiah was originally performed in 1742 as an Easter concert, but today has become synonymous with Christmas.
