Orpheus has earned a reputation for performances that are not only enthusiastic and fresh, but which are often as well shaped and finely polished as many a more firmly established, conducted orchestra.

The conductor-less orchestra embarks on its 2017-18 season
Join Grammy-winning outfit the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra as they debut their new season full of new soloists and exciting collaborations. The ground-breaking orchestra will be collaborating with Norwegian cellist Troels Mork, Norwegian trumpet player Tine Thing Helseth and Gerogian violinist Lisa Batiashvili, amongst others!
Founded in 1972 by cellist Julian Fifer, the ensemble turns the traditional orchestra hierarchy on its head, collaboratively curating and performing programmes without a conductor. Instead, the players themselves run and organise performances, appointing a new concertmaster for each new work it plays. Pieces run from chamber to symphonic from a diverse range of composers.
