MSR Classics presents a concert showcasing music by award-winning composer Sunny Knable in celebration of his second composition album, "Song of the Redwood-Tree". Knable's music has been described as "great!" (TheWholeNote), "genius" (Anchorage Press), "entertaining" (Audiophile Audition), "witty, romantic and lilting" (TheaterScene.net), offering up "sparks of color and inventiveness" (Sacramento Bee), and possessing a "wealth of thematic invention" (feastofmusic.com).

Featured performers include bassoonist Scott Pool and pianist Natsuki Fukasawa who together commissioned both "The Busking Bassoonist" and "Song of the Redwood-Tree", which will be sung by soprano Stefanie Izzo.  This concert will include two world premieres written for Trio Cabrini and Parhelion Trio, as well as a performance by "Red Mendelssohn" violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn with Barbara Podgurski.

SUNNY KNABLE is a multi-faceted composer, performer, educator, and author with numerous awards to his credit, including Best Composition Awards from the Festival of New American Music and the ANALOG ARTS Iron Composers Award.  His works are widely performed throughout the US and abroad, from operas, symphonies, chamber works, song cycles, choral pieces, and multiple works for solo piano.  Dr. Knable serves as Music Director at The Church-in-the-Gardens and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Queens College and LaGuardia Community College (CUNY).  He holds a Ph.D. in Music Composition degree from Stony Brook University, a Master of Arts degree in Composition from CUNY Queens College, and a Bachelor of Music degree from CSU Sacramento.  A selection of his works can be heard on his albums Keys'  on Trouv're Records, 'Song of the Redwood-Tree' on MSR Classics, and 'American Variations on Centaur Records. www.sunnyknablecomposer.com
