Why see Waiting For Godot?

Four extremely talented actors have come to Broadway, performing two great plays in repertory. Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Billy Crudup and Shuler Hensley star in Harold Pinter's comedy NO MAN'S LAND and Samuel Beckett;s WAITING FOR GODOT. Sean Mathias presents an edgy new look at these two theatrical masterpieces.

Two old friends meet to converse, joke and argue with themselves as they wait through one day and then another for the mysterious Godot…the combination of music hall, poetry and tension redefined what is possible in theatre, so that today Waiting for Godot is accepted as one of the most significant plays of the 20th century.

When Samuel Beckett's play exploded on stage 50 years ago, it shocked as many people as it delighted. There had never been a play like it; indeed it was said that: "(Beckett) has achieved a theoretical impossibility - a play in which nothing happens, that yet keeps audiences glued to their seats.”

Waiting For Godot stars two legendary actors - Ian McKellen as Estragon and Patrick Stewart as Vladimir - and is performed in repertory with No Man's Land.

Estragon

Godot worth the wait

A quick review. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen deliver as you'd expect. i was thrilled to not get an understudy, Luck and Pozzo were a little tedious. Anything is worth seeing the two Masters live on stage. ... Read more
