Mikhailovsky Ballet - Don Quixote

Mikhailovsky Ballet - Don Quixote at David H Koch Theater

Why see Mikhailovsky Ballet - Don Quixote?

Thou hast seen nothing yet

Conceived by choreographer Marius Petipa in the 1860s, and later revived by Alexander Gorsky, this is the most widely performed version of Cervantes' tale.

It begins with the eponymous hero dreaming of his beloved Dulcinea, a beautiful young lady of ethereal beauty. He wakes from his slumber determined to seek her out, and hauls along his servant Sancho for the journey. Described by The Times as a "lusty rom-com", Mikhailovsky Ballet's production captures the rambunctious joy of the source material with their characteristically vivid choreography. The Mikhailovsky Ballet is the resident company of one of Russia's oldest and most respected ballet houses, founded in 1833.
