Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Ravel festival
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Ravel festival
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the New York City Ballet's landmark 1975 Ravel Festival, the company presents a stunning All Ravel program with a collection of works set to the composer's timelessly evocative music! Opening the evening is Jerome Robbins' In G Major, brought to life by Ert's striking Art Deco designs, while Balanchine's Pavane, a delicate solo set to Ravel's Pavane pour une infante dfunte, showcases the quiet grace of a lone female dancer.
The rest of the program features more brilliance from George Balanchine, with his Errante, a ballet that captivated audiences in its 2024, and his Sonatine, a charming duet that highlights the airy joy of two dancers locked in playful movement. Bringing the evening to a dramatic close is La Valse, a mesmerizing work bringing beauty to darkness and tragedy. Don't miss this magnificent tribute to one of the 20th century's most influential composers and his enduring imprint on the artform.
