Why see New York City Ballet: Tribute to Robbins?
All Hail Jerome Robbins
This year marks the centennial anniversary of Jerome Robbins' birth, and New York City Ballet have a whole series of special shows dedicated to their co-founder. Perhaps best known for his work on Broadway and the silver screen (his successes included Funny Face and West Side Story), Robbins was a crucial part of NYCB's reputation for innovation and quality throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s.
A Tribute to Robbins features two of the choreographers best known pieces: Circus Polka, and The Four Seasons, alongside two new works inspired by his legacy.
