Waitress

Why see Waitress?

Cooking Up a Storm on broadway

PART OF 2021'S MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE!

Broadway's sweetest musical, Waitress is a life-affirming tale of dreaming big. Landing on the Great White Way following a Boston try-out, Waitress is the story of a small-town waitress named Jenna, who seizes on the chance to escape her small-town life by putting her baking skills to the test. The show has proved a huge hit with audiences both across the country and internationally and was nominated for four Tony Awards in 2016.

An A-List Creative team

Written by screenwriter Jessie Nelson, Waitress is based on the acclaimed indie movie of the same name from 2007, which starred Keri Russel. Waitress' bubbly pop score comes courtesy of pop songstress Sara Bareilles, while Broadway powerhouse Diane Paulus, best known for her Tony-winning work on the latest revival of Pippin and the recent Finding Neverland, directs.

WHAT IS WAITRESS ABOUT?

Suffocated by both the small Southern town where she lives, and her controlling husband Earl, Jenna longs for escape. Her only solace comes from working in the local diner, where she can practice her passion for baking. Jenna's crumbly pastries and crinkly crusts are renowned the town over, and by a stroke of luck, they might just offer her an escape route! A pie-making contest is announced in a nearby town, with a potentially life-changing cash prize for first place. Jenna realizes this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity and is determined to grab it with both hands!

Excellent

Saw this show in New York Twice. I've seen just about every Broadway show and this is one of the top 5. If only Christopher Fitzgerald could have a permanent role as "Ogie." He is HYSTERICAL. Laugh out loud hysterical. But all of the cast were wonderful. I want to see it again. ... Read more

Can't Wait To See This Again!

This Tony nominated musical (up against Hamilton) showcases what Sara Bareilles does best - fantastic sing along melodies and lyrics that tell a story with poetry, humor, melancholy, and love. I was fortunate enough to see this with Sara B. in the role of Jenna but she wrote incredible songs for each cast member. Every song got a standing ovation during the show, which made the show run three hours, but it was one of the highlights of theatre for me and my son (right up there with seeing the original Broadway cast of Into The Woods with Sondheim and Lapine in conversation and Hamilton) Can't wait to see this again! ...
