Celebrate The Work Of Master Composer And Lyricist Stephen Sondheim!
Sondheim's Old Friends was a true smash-hit success during its 2023 West End run, selling out quicker than Mrs. Lovett's meat pies, and even making its way onto the BBC! A tribute concert of all tribute concerts - Old Friends is devised by Cameron Mackintosh and presented with Mackintosh and Daryl Roth. Old Friends will be an in-depth revue featuring some of Sondheim's greatest songs, performed by the very best talents, featuring elements from Out Of The Woods, Sweeney Todd, and many, many more from the Sondheim scrapbook!
Old Friends is directed by Matthew Bourne, known for his acclaimed reimaginings of classics such as Sleeping Beauty and Edward Scissorhands. Joining him is Julia McKenzie, a BAFTA-nominated actress and director. The choreography will be handled by Stephen Mear.
Returning to the spotlight are Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga, reprising their roles from the triumphant 2023 West End run. The production will make its debut in North America at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in February 2025, followed by a run at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, hosted by Manhattan Theatre Club on Broadway, starting in March 2025.
