Paul Mescal Electrifies in a Revelatory 'Streetcar'
The New York Times, 2023
Winner 2023 Olivier Awards including Best Revial and Best Actor for Paul Mescal
After sizzling audiences during its much-acclaimed runs at the Almeida theatre and in the West End in 2023, Rebecca Frecknell's five-star production of Tennessee William's most famous play is set to turn up the heat in New York in spring 2025. Starring man-of-the-moment Paul Mescal, don't miss your chance to see this fantastic production as Mescal reprises his electrifying Olivier Award-winning role.
First opening on Broadway in 1947, Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire follows the life of protagonist Blanche DuBois who leaves her aristocratic lifestyle behind after a dramatic loss leaves her moneyless. She enters New Orleans French Quarter to live with her younger sister and brother-in-law.
A Streetcar Named Desire is widely regarded as one of the best plays of the 20th century. The production received the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play, the New York Drama Critics' Circle for Best Play, and Pulitzer Prize for Drama following its premiere.
