The Humans
"The finest new play of the Broadway season so far - by a long shot - Mr. Karam's drama has been beautifully transferred from Off Broadway."

We Are Family
Roundabout Theatre Company's wonderfully wrought comedy drama lands on Broadway. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Stephen Karam, the story centers on The Blakes, a middle class family whose Thanksgiving dinner is the scene of escalating anxiety and existential horror. Written as a single 90-minute scene, the work made its New York debut at the Laura Pels Theater last year and was given a rapturous reception by the critics, who praised its beautifully etched family dynamics and frequent bursts of hilarity. Charles Isherwood of the New York Times called it "quite possibly the finest [play] we will see all season." It looks as if the Tony Award Commitee agreed, with the show winning Best Play at the 2016 Awards.
The entire Off-Broadway company have made the move in this transfer. In the director's chair is two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello (An Act of God), and the cast includes Jayne Houdyshell (Follies) and Reed Birney (Netflix's House of Cards), both of whom took home Tony Awards for their performances in the show.
WHAT IS THE HUMANS ABOUT?
The Blake family usually spend their thanksgiving in Pennsylvania, but this year they're all heading to daughter Brigid's brand new Manhattan apartment. The place is barely furnished, and the whir of the washing machine, the buzz of a lightbulb and the sudden thumps emanating from the apartment upstairs all add to an air of growing unease around the dinner table, and a sense that all is not well underneath the Blakes' middle class facade.

Intriguing, disappointing, slow
The Humans highlights the ongoing issues of depression, indulgence, aging and the distressing notion that America's next generation is flooded with debt before they even begin, which begs the question how will the next generation take care of themselves,
