Honoring the work of the late thrice- Pulitzer Prize for Drama-winning Edward Albee, this new revival of his 2004 play is directed by the in-demand Lila Neugebauer, a year after this death. A work that was in fact an extension of his 1959 one-act drama The Zoo Story, this play explores the life of one man, Peter as he and his wife discuss the ennui in their marriage. We then follow Peter him to the zoo for some quiet contemplation, only to have his life shattered completely.
The first act takes place at home, as he and his wife try to establish why their life, albeit comfortable and reasonably wealthy, has been so unsatisfying, especially in the bedroom. We soon learn that Peter once before lost control at a sex party, something he vowed he would never do again. As his wife laments that she desires a little "chaos" in their small life, he heads to the zoo in the second act.
Sitting on a bench in the park, his attention is drawn from the book that he is trying to read, by the arrival of a muttering, distracted young man called Jerry. After coercing Peter into a conversation with him, Jerry's behavior deteriorates into madness, leading to shocking consquences for Peter. After all, his wife had wished for a little chaos in their lives....
