Broadway Premiere

Hot off the back of a sold-out, and extended, run at San Diego's prestigious La Jolla Playhouse Joe DiPietro and David Bryan's brand new bio-musical, Diana, has come to Broadway. Following the ''People's Princess'', as she moves from un-known noble to the Princess of Wales and onwards to cultural icon, Diana dives amongst all the glitz, glamor, and heart-break, to discover the young woman behind it all.

Brought to Broadway by the team behind the Tony-winning musical Memphis (book and lyrics by DiPietro, composed by Bryan and direction from Tony winner Christopher Ashley), Diana will star all four of the principal cast members from the La Jolla run. Broadway alum Jeanna De Waal will take on the titular role with Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles, Erin Davie as Camilla Parker Bowles, and Tony winner Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth. 

What is Diana about?

The musical is set in 1981, a very important year in the young Diana's life. Married to Charles, Prince Of Wales in July of that year, the 20-year-old faces obstacles far removed from the fairy-tale nature of the wedding to end all weddings. Under the constant glare of the media lens, her husband becomes more and more distant as she becomes aware of the restrictions of joining an unmovable monarchy. When she holds firm to her ideals, using compassion and modern thinking to promote peace, she threatens the very foundations of British royalty.
