Coming to the historic Lucille Lortel Theatre for 10 weeks only this fall is Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. Starring Christopher Abbot as Danny, and making her onstage debut as Roberta is Parks and Rec star Aubrey Plaza. Danny and The Deep Blue Sea also marks a first for Jeff Ward, making his entrance into the world of theater directing
What's it about?
We find ourselves in a Bronx dive bar and stumble upon two deeply troubled souls, laborer Danny and single mom Roberta. The two move through a journey of self-destructive behaviors to a relationship of empathy and emotional redemption.
Born and raised in Delaware, Aubrey Plaza attended the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts to study film. She is perhaps best known for her role as deadpan April Ludgate in the NBC show Parks and Rec, and has acted in many other iconic parts such as Julie Powers in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Harper Spiller in the White Lotus. Plaza has won several awards, including a SAG award for Outstanding Performance.
Christopher Abbott is primarily known for his extensive work in independent films. He has most recently appeared in The Crowded Room and will be starring as the main villain in the upcoming Marvel film Kraven the Hunter.
