Hold On To Me Darling

Why see Hold On To Me Darling?

The Off-Broadway Event of the Fall

Hold onto your stetsons, Academy Award, and Tony Nominee Adam Driver goes country in this Off-Broadway revival of Kenneth Lonergan's 2016 play, directed by Neil Pepe, coming to the Lucille Lortel Theatre this fall. Swapping his lightsabre for a guitar, Driver plays a famous country music star, the excellently named Strings McCrane, whose life in the limelight comes crashing down to earth after the death of his mother. A humorous and poignant exploration of celebrity, don't miss this fantastically observed tragicomedy when performances begin this fall.

Last seen on Broadway in 2019's Burn This, former U.S. Marine and Julliard-educated Driver makes regular stage returns in between high-profile Hollywood projects. With a range that makes him a magnetic presence in anything he's in, he is truly one of the most intriguing and watchable actors of his generation.

What Is The Story?

World-famous Country Music star Strings McCrane is devastated by the death of his mother, and begins to question if his fame and money are really making him happy. Hoping to find the answer, he packs up his bags and returns to his sleepy Tennessee hometown, in search of some deeper meaning to his life. As things turn out, this much-lauded homecoming isn't quite the soul-cleansing experience he was hoping for...
