Dave Chappelle

Beginning his comedy career in 1991 Chappelle quickly made a name for himself on the New York comedy circuit. Gaining popularity at an unprecedented pace Chappelle hit the big time with Chappelle's Show on Comedy Central in 2003. Featuring a range of different comedy sketches the Chappelle's Show garnered the star two Emmy nominationsHowever, the overwhelming popularity took its toll on the comedian. Over the next half decade, Chappelle made a few rare TV and stand-up appearances until 2013 when he returned to the comedy circuit! Dave Chappelle on Broadway

Chappelle kills on Broadway.. Been a fan for a while thru the ups and downs. I bought the tickets for the sake of seeing a legend of comedy on Broadway as a once in a lifetime chance. Going in i did not know what to expect... saw his Netflix specials and thought that it may have been some material that I’ve seen before mixed with some new material. To my surprise this was the best I’ve ever seen from Dave Chappelle. All the material was new, not only that he spoke in detail about today’s social climate and how it makes comedy hard.. thru it all he remains true to himself by telling jokes that are hilarious and no one is off limits.. he addresses all avenues of today’s culture and in true Chappelle fashion the bluntness and common sense “like really this is America today” style of comedy touches the hearts of all and it’s really hard to be offended even if he is addressing a group you represent.. at the end of the show i attended he the audience a bonus by allowing the audience to ask him any question about anything... most questions came from diverse audience members which represented a subset of all the sub-cultures he jokes about.. it was enlightening to hear how he felt, how social conscious he is and why he stays true to the artist he is. This is Chappelle at his best and if you have the opportunity to see the Broadway run don’t miss out this guy is peaking again and re-establishes himself as the King of Comedy!!!!! ... Read more

Yet, inadvertently they showed just how great he is, master not just of jokes but of delivery, presence, authenticity, humanity. For the haters, as Gervais reminds us: a joke is not offensive, you found that joke offensive. ... Read more
