A comedy play about space and motherhood
Partially set right here in Princeton, Legacy of Light is a comedy about science, motherhood and outer space! In present-day Princeton a fantastically gifted space scientist is about to tackle the biggest unknown yet; becoming a parent. Meanwhile, looking three centuries into the past, in France in the 18th century a similarly skilled scientist who is also the writer Voltaire's lover discovers she's expecting a child.
Finding the parallels between the two, Legacy of Light is a warming comedy about the universe's biggest questions and the challenges faced by women scientists both in the past and present. Written by Karen Zacarias, it won high praise from critics upon its release and bagged the writer Steinberg Citation in 2010.
