Why see Metropolitan Opera - Ainadamar?
The Fountain Of Tears Is Calling
A night of debuts at the Metropolitan Opera will be happening this fall as conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya and director and choreographer of Cirque Du Soleil fame, Deborah Colker make their first appearances with a new production of Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar. Golijov's work, a dramatization of the life and death of poet Federico Garca Lorca, first debuted in Massachusetts in 2003. The cast includes soprano Angel Blue, mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack, and in yet another Met debut, Alfredo Tejada. A powerful opera of love and war that will take your breath away, and can't be missed!
Xirgu has been playing the same part on stage for nearly forty years, the role of Mariana Pineda in her old friend, Lorca's play. Returning to her past, Xirgu is faced with the life and death of Lorca, and the telling of the story of Pinada in honor of his memory.
