Metropolitan Opera - La Forza del Destino

Metropolitan Opera - La Forza del Destino at Metropolitan Opera House

Why see Metropolitan Opera - La Forza del Destino?

Verdi's Classic Reimagined

Guiseppe Verdi's passionate and tragic tale of destiny plays out at the Metropolitan Opera, with Met star Lise Davidson playing the heroine role of Leonora for the first time. Updated to a modern setting by director Mariusz Trelinski, this production places the 19th century classic in almost-present day, replete with automobiles, subway scenes and a reinterpretation of how the opera's themes relate to present issues and attitudes.

What is the story?

After Leonora, a noblewoman, and Alvaro, a Spanish nobleman of Incan descent, fall in love despite societal barriers, a tragic accident triggers a series of events culminating in a lifelong pursuit of revenge by Leonora's brother, Don Carlo. Navigating through societal constraints and personal vendettas, the characters must eventually contend with the relentless force of destiny itself.
