Why see When We Were Young And Unafraid?

Two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones stars in this brand new drama about a 1970s women's refuge, playing the role of Agnes - the woman who transforms her bed and breakfast into an underground shelter for female victims of domestic violence and abuse. The play is set in a time before the Roe v. Wade case which helped redefine US abortion laws.

When a young runaway name Mary Anne comes to stay (Zoe Kazan), her more modern views cause Agnes' teenage daughter Penny (Morgan Saylor) to start questioning her own future. In the face of this burgeoning self-awareness and the growing influence of feminist beliefs, Agnes begins to question her own assumptions about the women she has been assisting for so many years.

When We Were Young And Unafraid is a powerful and moving play about the impact people can have in our lives to help us reshape our views of the world, and rediscover our own destiny. Written by Sarah Treem, this world premiere production of When We Were Young And Unafraid is directed by Pam MacKinnon.
