Love and dark fantasies in Tender Napalm
Tender Napalm, Philip Ridley's explosive, intimate, searing and surreal exploration of love and survival, returns Off-Broadway this fall. Starring Ben Ahlers (The Gilded Age) as "Man" and Victoria Pedretti (Haunting of Hill House) as "Woman", the play depicts two lovers diving into passionate extremes, flirting with their darkest, most violent fantasies. As they spiral through a fantastical landscape of desire and pain, serpents and unicorns, fantasy and reality blur and the ultimate question is posed - how do we save love in an ever more frightening world?
Directed by Rory McGregor (The Lehman Trilogy, M. Butterfly), with a design team including Brendan Gonzales Boston (set), Avery Reed (costumes), Brian Hickey (sound) and Stacey Derosier (lighting), Tender Napalm is a raw, visceral theatrical experience that challenges the boundaries of romance in a world at war with itself. Premiering at the Southwark Playhouse in London back in 2011, come see why this play won plaudits on its release.
