The Lady Chablis Presents To You A Story Like No Other
An antique dealer, a dead employee, and four murder trials - John Berendt's chilling Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is one of the longest-standing New York Times Best-Sellers since its 1994 release. Finally receiving the big stage treatment at Chicago's Goodman Theatre in 2024, and described by the Chicago Tribune as "filled with enough thrilling musical ideas for three musicals,", Savanna's most tantalizing true crime story calls the jury to Broadway in 2025, with casting, dates and venue to be announced.
What's It About?
In 1981 in Savannah, Georgia, a young man by the name of Danny Hansford was shot by his employer, antiques dealer Jim Williams. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil follows Williams and the local community throughout all four of the trials for the murder of Hansford. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil won the 1995 Boeke Prize and was a finalist for the 1995 Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction. A film adaptation of the book was released in 1997, starring John Cusack and Kevin Spacey.
